Don't Train On Me

How to stop ChatGPT training on your conversations

Your conversations, uploads, and custom instructions.

Consumer accounts are opted in. Team, Enterprise and API traffic are not.

Open the ChatGPT setting

What they use

Conversations, uploaded files, and custom instructions, to improve the models. Team, Enterprise, and API traffic are excluded by default. Consumer accounts are not.

Turn it off

  1. 1Open Settings, then Data controls.
  2. 2Turn off "Improve the model for everyone".
  3. 3Temporary Chat sessions are excluded regardless of this setting.

What it does not do

It is forward-looking. Conversations already used in a completed training run are not recalled. Deleting a chat removes it from your history and from future training use, but not from a model that has already been trained.

If the selector fails

The toggle's test id changes. Fall back to matching the visible label text "Improve the model for everyone" and read the switch's aria-checked attribute.

ChatGPT is one of thirty-one

Every service on that list buries its opt-out somewhere different. Don't Train On Me puts all of them in one checklist in a panel beside your browser, walks you through them one at a time, and helps you confirm your privacy settings on the ones that expose a setting it can read. Free, no account, and nothing you tick leaves your machine.
