Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of ownyourai.app and Own Your AI software. By using the site or installing the software, you agree to them.

Memberships and billing

Memberships are sold and billed through Substack. Prices, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Substack under its own terms of service. Monthly and yearly memberships give you access to the Own Your AI catalog while your membership is active. Founding lifetime memberships give ongoing access to the founding catalog without renewal payments.

License

Own Your AI software is licensed, not sold. Your membership grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on computers you own or control. Software you individually purchased with a permanent license remains yours to use under the terms of that purchase, even if a recurring membership ends.

What you may not do

You may not copy, redistribute, sell, resell, rent, lease, sublicense, relicense, or white-label the software or any part of it. You may not create derivative or competing works from it, publish it to any extension store, app store, or public repository, or share, resell, or publicly post members-only download links. You may not decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the software except where that right cannot be waived by law, and you may not use anything obtained from it to build or assist a competing product. You may not remove or alter any branding, attribution, or license notice, or use the software to break the law. Commercial team use requires a team or business license where indicated on the product page.

Evaluation and review copies

Software provided at no charge for evaluation, review, or feedback is licensed for that purpose only, to a single named individual, and may be revoked at any time. It carries no right to redistribute, and none of the permissions above are granted with it.

Open-source components

Our products build on open-source software. Those components remain governed by their own licenses, which are included with each product where applicable. What we sell is the packaging, configuration, documentation, updates, and support around them.

No refunds

All sales are final. Software is sold as is, and memberships and purchases are not refundable in whole or in part. Each product page states what the software does and which systems it supports; read it before you buy, and ask us anything you are unsure about first. If a supported system does not work as described, we will work with you to resolve it. You may cancel a membership at any time to stop future charges, and access continues until the end of the paid period.

Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability

The software and site are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Own Your AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Changes to the service and these terms

The catalog, features, and prices will change over time. We may update these terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state of the operator's residence.
