The recording is a plain audio file in a folder you can open, the transcription happens on your machine, and no part of the conversation is uploaded to anyone.

Step 1

Your browser unzips it automatically. If it doesn't, double-click the file in Downloads.

Step 2

Move to Applications, then open

Drag Own Your AI Meeting Notes into your Applications folder. The first time, right-click the app and choose Open, then Open again.

Step 3

Press Record

macOS asks for the microphone the first time, because recording is the whole product. The first transcription downloads a speech model once, about 140MB. After that it works with no connection at all.

Step 4

Press Stop and read it back

An hour of conversation takes a few minutes to transcribe. Then you have the summary, the decisions and the action items, and you can export the whole thing as a file.

What it hears, plainly: macOS only offers an app the microphone, never the sound coming out of your speakers. In a room that means everyone. On a video call it means your side, plus whatever your speakers are playing. With headphones on, the other side is not captured. Every cloud recorder gets around this by joining your call and uploading it, which is the one thing this will not do. If you have a loopback or aggregate input set up, choose it in Settings and it records both sides. The summary and action items are quoted straight from your own transcript; install Ollama and it writes them for you instead, still on your Mac.
